Chris Firth, Chief Scientist, Thales Research Technology (UK)

Chris received a first class BSc (Hons) in Electronic Engineering in 1976 and an MSc in Telecommunications Systems in 1978. In his early career he worked on data transmission over Personal Mobile Radio and since 1980 has worked at Thales (formerly Racal) in a variety of technical and senior managerial roles associated with data communications. He was one of the founder members of the Mobile Virtual Centre of Excellence (MVCE) where he is still the Thales representative. Now at TRT (UK) he is currently responsible for Networks & Security technology, collaborative projects and academic relationships.

Chris is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (SMIEEE) and also a visiting professor to the University of Surrey’s School of Engineering & Physical Sciences and an honorary professor in the School of Engineering at Warwick University.
