Research Agenda

3CR's research agenda is in the intersection of three technology and market trends :

  • Information Utility : Everything and everyone connected by a single network
  • Digital World : Media are digital, online and evolving
  • Active participation : Roles and supply chains are changing

Information Utility : Everything and everyone connected by a single network

All the main media and communications services are still in the early stages of converging on, and with, the Internet to create a universal utility.  An ever growing variety of media and communication devices will be served by ever increasing online resources.  Wired and wireless communication networks will be refashioned from their past as a collection of independent network architectures to provide universal seamless communication and media access to every device, everywhere.

Digital World : Media are digital, online and evolving

All media are becoming digital and all content is becoming available online.  Content, communications and technology are evolving together to create fundamentally new forms of media and ever more realistic, real-time, immersive experiences which can be customised for the participants and their content.

Active Participation : Roles and supply chains are changing

Broadcast entertainment and traditional supply chains are being challenged by the Internet.  Traditional distinctions between producer and consumer, content and communication, creation and delivery, are all disappearing as new models of participative and pervasive access emerge. Social media are creating a completely new relationship between professional content providers and individuals who both produce and consume media.  Individuals have instant access to a wide variety of information, creating new opportunities and new ways of working.
